KL Rahul Drops Down; Aaron Finch, Martin Guptill And Ashton Agar Big Gainers In Latest ICC T20I Players Rankings

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released its updated ICC players rankings for T20Is on March 10, 2021. It sees some movement after the Australia-New Zealand T20I series was completed with New Zealand winning the five-match series 3-2.

The series had the likes of Martin Guptill, Aaron Finch, Ashton Agar, Devon Conway, and Ish Sodhi starring for their respective teams as the trans-Tasman rivals lit up with excellent performances with the bat and ball both.

New Zealand had won the first two T20I matches at Christchurch and Dunedin, but then Australia came back with vengeance at Wellington and won the next two matches to level the series 2-2. The final T20I at Wellington saw New Zealand win by 7 wickets and pocket the series 3-2.

KL Rahul drops down one spot, Aaron Finch Moves To No.2 And Martin Guptill Breaks Into Top 10 Of T20I Batting Rankings

The latest rankings see Australia captain Aaron Finch moving up to no.2 spot by displacing India’s KL Rahul. Finch had a brilliant series with 197 runs in 5 matches with a best of 79* at an average of 49.25. He also captained the team brilliantly bringing them back in the five-match series from 0-2 down.

New Zealand’s Martin Guptill was the highest run-getter from both sides in the five-match T20I series with 218 runs in 5 matches with two half-centuries and a best score of 97* at an average of 43.60. He hit 15 sixes and 16 fours for New Zealand, helping his team win the series 3-2.

Ashton Agar Moves Into Top 5, Ish Sodhi In Top 10 Of ICC T20I Bowling Rankings

Ashton Agar was the best bowler for Australia in the series, picking 8 wickets at an economy of 6.88 and moved into the top 5 of the ICC T20I bowling rankings at 4th spot.

His best bowling figures were 6/30. This was Agar’s second five-wicket haul in T20Is, with his first coming against South Africa in 2020, when he had picked 5/24, which included a hat-trick as well.

Agar’s bowling figures are the fourth-best in the T20I history with India’s Deepak Chahar’s 6/7 being the all-time best as of now. He is also one of the four bowlers to take 6 wickets in a T20I inning, with Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ajantha Mendis being the other three.

From New Zealand. Ish Sodhi was the highest wicket-taker with 13 scalps to his name at an economy of 8.26 and best bowling figures of 4/28. He moves into the top 10 of the rankings at the 8th spot.
