Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has a golden piece of advice for KL Rahul. Shastri reckoned that KL Rahul needs to realize his talent at this stage of his career in order to have productive years ahead.

The former India allrounder gave the advice when KL Rahul was playing in the 1st Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. Rahul was dismissed for 16 off 52 balls in the first innings of the match by the offspinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

In the second innings, he remained unbeaten on 22 off 19 balls with 4 fours to his name as India declared their second innings on 287-4. During his brief innings, he also completed 8000 runs in international cricket and became the 17th Indian cricketer to achieve the feat.

Ravi Shastri's golden piece of advice for KL Rahul

Ravi Shastri is on the commentary panel for the ongoing Test series between India and Bangladesh. During the post-lunch session on Day 3, Shastri came up with a golden advice for KL Rahul during his commentary stint. He spoke about having a positive mindset which will make Rahul different as compared to now.

“KL Rahul needs to realise that he has got much of talent. The day he realises that and comes out with a mindset and thinking in that fashion. He will be a different player,” Shastri stated.

Ever since his international debut in 2014, KL Rahul is seen as someone who has immense potential. But unfortunately, his career hasn't gone as he would have liked. A few patches of poor form combined with injuries at the wrong time have hampered his career.

KL Rahul's journey in international cricket

He started his career as an opener but has now moved to middle order in both Tests and ODIs. Rahul's versatility makes him such a unique batter as he possesses the ability to bat at any position within the line-up.

Seeing his immense potential, the team management decided to play him as a wicketkeeper in the middle order during the Asia Cup and the World Cup last year in the absence of Rishabh Pant. Rahul responded exceptionally well and was one of India's best performers in both tournaments.

The 32-year-old batter from Karnataka was given the middle order spot for the first time in Test cricket during India's Test series against England earlier this year. Rahul scored a splendid 87 in the first Test but got injured later to be ruled out of the series.

KL Rahul made his international debut in 2014 during India's tour of Australia for a Test series. He failed miserably in the first Test but showed his mettle in his second Test at Sydney and scored a brilliant 110.

Despite seeing seen many ups and downs throughout his career, Rahul has somehow managed to be around the Indian squad. However, he will be looking to reach the peak of his career during the upcoming years. He will be a key player for India in the upcoming Test season.
