Star Indian opening batsman KL Rahul is all set to become the Test vice-captain of the India National Cricket Team for the upcoming three-match Test series against South Africa.
Ajinkya Rahane was removed from test vice-captaincy after his extremely poor performance with the bat in Tests in 2021. He captained the Indian team in the Kanpur Test against New Zealand in the absence of original captain Virat Kohli. However, he suffered a niggle and was dropped from the second Test and Shreyas Iyer replaced him and smashed a century and half-century in the Mumbai Test.

However, Rohit Sharma suffered a hamstring injury during a training session and was ruled out of the Test series against South Africa.
