The knockout stage of the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season could well be held in Bengaluru. As per reports in Cricbuzz, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken the decision considering the weather in Bengaluru in June.

The decision is yet to be made official but the BCCI members have come to a decision. The schedule for the knockout stages hasn’t been released but they are set to be played between May 30 and June 26, right after IPL 2022 season concludes.

The summer season in Bengaluru is generally not as severe when compared to other cities and neither is the monsoon, which sets in July. Therefore, the best choice would be to hand over the elimination stages to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).

The Chinnaswamy stadium recently held the day-night Test match between India and Sri Lanka where the former crushed their opponents by 238 runs in a lop-sided encounter on a tricky surface. The pitch prepared for the Ranji games is expected to be different, however.

So far, 57 of the 64 games have been completed after a late start due to the increasing Omicron cases in India. The matches were held across nine venues – Rajkot, Cuttack, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Trivandrum, Delhi, Haryana, Guwahati, and Kolkata.
