Aim Has To Be To Reach The WTC Final But The Road For That Is Through Winning One Test At A Time – Reetinder Sodhi On Indian Team

Former cricketer Reetinder Sodhi has said that the aim of the Indian team should be to reach the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the second consecutive time but opined that the Indian team should set realistic goals and focus on one Test at a time.
India National Cricket Team under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, who was leading the Test team for the first time, won the two-match Test series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team at home by 2-0.
Currently, India are at the No.4 spot in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 points table with 58.33 percentage points, the points table is led by Australia while Pakistan and South Africa are at No.2 and No.3 respectively.

Meanwhile, during a discussion on India News, Reetinder Sodhi said that India still can make it to the final of the World Test Championship but they need to keep realistic goals.
“The best part is that India has a chance, it’s not over as yet. It’s necessary that you keep realistic goals, win one Test at a time. You can put pressure on yourself if you want to win all 7 Tests. So your aim has to be to reach the WTC final but the road for that is through winning one Test at a time,” he asserted.
He added that the journey will not be an easy one for the Rohit Sharma-led side.
“The journey is not easy but the way the Indian team is playing, if we talk about the recent Test series against Sri Lanka, this team has the might, the consistency is being seen, bowling has been fantastic and if we talk about the batting – Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, the way Shreyas Iyer’s bat is talking and Rishabh Pant is looking in good form,” he said.

Reetinder Sodhi further added that India have a huge chance to qualify for the final as they will be facing Australia at home and India have better spinners than the Aussie team.
“The seven-match journey can be good as well. We will have to win all the matches. With Australia coming to India, we have a huge chance. We have always put pressure on Australia at home.”
“Australia knows that it will be difficult for them to play in India. The wickets are spinner-friendly and if we talk about spin, we have better spinners. So, India has a huge chance,” he elaborated.
