Kuldeep Yadav drops a stunning statement on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's retirement

India wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav talked about retirement of the Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the T20Is after winning the T20 World 2024. He said that it's their personal decision and them leaving makes room for the youngsters to take charge in the shortest of the game.

India National Cricket Team won the T20 World Cup 2024 but it also turned out to be an emotional day for many. After winning the tournament, legends of the Indian team Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from the shortest format of the game.

First, it was Virat Kohli, who after winning the Player of the Match in the final, during the post-match presentation, announced that this was his last game for the India National Cricket Team in the T20Is. He said that he feels that it's the right time for the youngsters to take on now.

Much to the heartbreak of fans, minutes later in the post-match press conference, Rohit Sharma also announced his decision to retire from the T20I format. He said that there's no better time to say goodbye to the format as he always wanted to win the trophy and bid adieu to the format.

Kuldeep Yadav was asked about the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the T20Is. He stated that they announced the decision after winning the T20 World Cup and there's no better feeling than this. Speaking to ANI, he explained:

"It is their personal decision. They have achieved a lot for India. I hope that youngsters will get good opportunities. They announced their retirement after winning the T20 World Cup and there is no better achievement than that."

Virat Kohli in his career played 125 matches for India in the T20Is. He is India's second-highest run-scorer in the shortest format of the game. In his career, he slammed 4188 at an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 137.04. He also slammed one century in the format.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma finished his T20I career as the all-time leading run-getter in the format with 4231 runs. The skipper of the team finished with five hundreds, which is the most by any batter in T20I cricket. He also hit 32 fifties and had a career strike rate of 140.

We were desperate to win the World Cup- Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav also talked about the T20 World Cup 2024 win and said that the entire team was desperate to win the tournament and they did that. He stated that it was an aggressive approach by the team that helped them to win. He elaborated: "It was a good approach. We were desperate to win the World Cup. We achieved what we wanted to."

Kuldeep Yadav played a vital role in India lifting T20 World Cup 2024. He picked 10 wickets in the tournament, playing in the Caribbean leg of the tournament, and helped the team etch the name in their record books.
