England Women’s Cricket Team is all set to lock horns against West indies for a white ball leg. They are going to play 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is starting from 04th December. This tour is extremely vital for England as there is T20 World Cup scheduled in February 2023 in South Africa.
England Women’s Cricket Team had a topsy-turvy white ball assignment against India where they lost the ODI series but won the T20I Series. England would be looking to start afresh as a lot of players are coming back into the team.
Jon Lewis on Squad
England Women’s Head Coach Jon Lewis made some interesting comments on the squad. “I’m really excited to get to the West Indies and start working with this group. Though I wasn’t involved in selection for this trip, we did have some brief discussions in the lead up to selection and I’m pleased for everyone who’s been selected.” said Jon Lewis.
“It’s great to have Heather, Nat and Katherine back in the group. The quality and experience they bring can only add huge value both on and off the field. We will manage Katherine back into competitive cricket with an eye on the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in February.” he added.
“Equally, for Lauren, it’s pleasing to see a player go through a tough period and come back stronger, while demonstrating terrific form at domestic and franchise level. I have been particularly impressed with Lauren’s ability to put the bowlers under pressure and score at an impressive run rate in the power play.” he concluded
Great Chance for England
England Women’s Team would get ample match practice as Caribbean pitches are quite testing as scoring won’t be easy there. Skipper Heather Knight would be hoping that the team peaks at the perfect time. It would be interesting to see how the series unfolds as both the teams are evenly matched.
