Good all-round effort with both bat and ball - Pat Cummins
Being invited to bat first, SRH were able to post a huge score of 231/6 on the board, thanks to a stunning performance from Ishan Kishan, who slammed an unbeaten 94 runs off 48 balls. Abhishek Sharma (34), Aniket Verma (26), and Heinrich Klaasen (24) also chipped in with good runs.
Defending the score, Pat Cummins (3), Eshan Malinga (2), Nitish Kumar Reddy (1), Harsh Dubey (1), Harshal Patel (1), and Jaydev Unadkat (1) picked up wickets at crucial junctures to bowl RCB out for 189.
During the post-match presentation ceremony, Pat Cummins was not entirely happy with his team as he said that they delivered a good all-round performance 'a little bit too late' in IPL 2025. He said:
"Little bit too late this season but good allround effort with both bat and ball. Now that Nitish is back bowling, does feel like we've a genuine sixth bowler. Abhishek's always telling me that he's a good option and I should use him."
So much power for someone who's not as tall as some others - Pat Cummins on Ishan Kishan
Pat Cummins showered massive praise on Ishan Kishan for his heroics and revealed that they had misread the pitch. Pat Cummins said:
"So much power for someone who's not as tall as some others (talking about Kishan). We actually misread the wicket. Thought it might have been a 170 wicket, and then all the batters came back and said it's a really good wicket and to keep going.
In the end, Pat Cummins lauded Eshan Malinga, who has emerged as one of the top performers for SRH in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. He said:
"He's been great (Malinga). Wherever you bowl him, he's taken wickets. He's got plenty of tool - the fast yorker and the great dipping slower ball. Has been a find this season."
How was SRH's performance in the previous RCB clash?
Sunrisers Hyderabad had a poor outing against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their previous IPL clash on April 25, 2024, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Chasing a big 207-run target, SRH failed under pressure and got restricted to 171/8.
Being put in to bowl first, SRH bowlers delivered an under-par performance and allowed RCB to post a huge score of 206/7 on the board.
Jaydev Unadkat emerged as SRH’s standout performer as he bagged 3 wickets for 30 runs. T Natarajan chipped in with 2 wickets while Pat Cummins and Mayank Markande got one wicket each.
Chasing the target, SRH started off aggressively with 13-ball 31 from Abhishek Sharma, but they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Travis Head departed for just 1, while Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen were also dismissed cheaply.
The middle order failed to build any big partnerships and despite Pat Cummins' 31 off 15 balls and Shahbaz Ahmed's 40* off 37, SRH failed to complete the run-chase.
