Mumbai Indians were asked to bat first, and they were off to a flying start with the bat. Ryan Rickelton (58), who slammed the fastest half-century for the team in IPL 2025 in just 25 balls, and Rohit Sharma (12) also added 33 runs for the opening partnership to put the opposition under pressure.

After that, Will Jacks (29) supported Rickelton well as Mumbai had a run rate of 10. Suryakumar Yadav (54) slammed a solid half-century before Naman Dhir (25*) and Corbin Bosch (20) ensured that Mumbai Indians ended the innings on high as they posted 215 for seven.

Lucknow Super Giants lost Aiden Markram early, and after that, Mitchell Marsh (34) and Nicholas Pooran (27) batted brilliantly, and it seemed that they would have a great chase. But Mumbai Indians bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals to put the opposition under pressure.

Ayush Badoni (35) and David Miller (24) batted well, but Mumbai kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Jasprit Bumrah picked four wickets while Trent Boult picked three as Mumbai Indians bundled out Lucknow Super Giants for 161 to win the game by 54 runs.

Here's how the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) can qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), with the loss against Mumbai Indians, faced their 5th loss in the Indian Premier League 2025. They are now placed 6th on the points table with 5 wins and 5 losses under their belt. They also have 10 points from the 10 games.

To qualify for the playoffs, they need to win at least three out of their remaining 4 games in the tournament. This will take them to 16 points and will almost ensure them a place in the top four. They will still be in contention if they win two games and lose two.

But they will be dependent on the NRR as well as how other results pan out in the league. As 14 points won't ensure them a place in the playoffs of the tournament.

The next three matches of the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be next seen in action when they face Punjab Kings on Sunday, 4th May) in Dharamsala. Following that, they will return home to lock horns with Royal Challengers Bengaluru on 9th May. Then, they will take on the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on 14th May.
