Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag lashed out at commentator Danny Morrison for asking MS Dhoni about his retirement during the toss between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 45the game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that it is the keeper-batter’s call and that everyone should leave him alone.
There have been many speculations about the future of MS Dhoni in the IPL. It might possibly be the last season for him as a cricketer. But with the kind of fitness he has, it’s fair to say that he can play for two or three seasons more.

MS Dhoni even in the game against KKR at the Eden Gardens mentioned that he’s grateful that even in the away games, fans are coming to support him and gave him farewell. Commentator Danny Morrison, however, tried to clear all the air about his retirement.

During the toss between LSG and CSK, he asked him if he was enjoying his last season in the league or not. Reply to this, Dhoni confused many and also invited a huge cheer from the fans .
“This wonderful swansong tour, is your last, how are you enjoying it?” Morrison asked.
“Well, you have decided it’s my last,” Dhoni replied.

Virender Sehwag however wasn’t amazed with Danny Morrison asking about MS Dhoni’s retirement. He said that it was his call and let him take it. He was furious and said that he doesn’t even understand why people ask him. He explained:
“I just don’t understand… why do they even ask? Even if it’s last year, why do you have to ask him? It’s his call, let him take that! Maybe he just wanted to get that answer out of Dhoni, that it was indeed his last season. Whether it’s his last year or not, only MS Dhoni knows.“
MS Dhoni currently is leading CSK in the IPL 2023. Under him, the team has done reasonably well and is currently 4th on the points table with 5 wins.
