Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh slammed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for their poor performance in the 36th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He said that Virat Kohli alone cannot win them matches for them as the whole team needs to step up.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a disappointing 21-run loss against Kolkata Knight Riders. They displayed a poor batting and bowling performance, which saw them lose their 4th game of the season. They now stand 5th on the points table with 4 losses and 4 wins.

Only Virat Kohli looked settled on the crease rest every other batted got out playing flash shots. The stand-in skipper registered his 5th half-century of the season and ended with the score of 54 runs in 37 balls. But couldn’t take his team past the finishing line.

Harbhajan Singh Singh said that Virat Kohli lacked support from the other batters, which was the main reason behind their loss. Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said:

“Virat Kohli cannot do everything alone. Yes, he will score runs for you all the time and is a fantastic player. However, he needs support from other players, which was missing. Everyone got out one by one, and they eventually lost the game.”

LSG vs RCB: “Dinesh Karthik has disappointed RCB this time” – Says, Harbhajan Singh

Apart from Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell no other RCB batter has stepped up for the team. Talking about senior pro Dinesh Karthik, he too has struggled to get going and has looked out of touch. It was expected that Karthik would play a great role against KKR but he managed just 22 runs in 18 balls. Overall in 8 games, he has managed just 82 runs at a poor average of 11.86.

Harbhajan Singh feels that Karthik isn’t in his rhythm and has disappointed RCB this time. He elaborated:

“Dinesh Karthik has disappointed RCB this time. He hasn’t been in the kind of form that he was in last year. He is one such player who can change the course of the match. He just doesn’t seem to be in that kind of a rhythm.”

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be next seen in action when they will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their next game on Monday (1st May).
