Legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar seems to be not happy with Yashasvi Jaiswal’s stunning performance against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 38th match of the ongoing IPL 2024 on April 22.

The 22-year-old batter announced his return to form with a record-breaking unbeaten century for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 38th IPL 2024 match held in Jaipur. It was his second ton against the five-time IPL champions in the lucrative T20 league.

Hails from Mumbai, Gavaskar has thrown a question to Yashasvi that is likely to resonate with every Mumbaikar after his stellar performance for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Jaipur. Being a Mumbai native himself, Jaiswal has consistently delivered remarkable performances against the MI.

And Gavaskar couldn’t resist asking Jaiswal what it is about facing the Mumbai Indians that seems to bring out the best in him every time. The former Indian skipper asked the RR opener if couldn’t he score those tons against the other teams in the IPL, as after all, he is also a Mumbai boy.

Sunil Gavaskar told Yashasvi Jaiswal at the post-match presentation: “Yashasvi! Sunil here. This is your second century against the Mumbai Indians. And you're a Mumbai boy. What is it that is making you score these hundreds against them? Can't you score these hundreds against others?”

Hearing the question, the RR opener started smiling before delivering a straightforward answer to the legendary batter as he spoke about his mindset and approach to the game.

Jaiswal replied to Gavaskar by saying: “Nothing. It's just that I think am trying to do what I do well. Some days are tough, some days are good. And I was just playing. That's all. I didn't have anything in my mind.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal's return to his form great sign for RR

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal's match-winning performance in the IPL 2024 clash against the Mumbai Indians (MI) was nothing short of sensational. The left-handed batter showcased his talent against his hometown team once again in the IPL.

With a scintillating unbeaten century, he propelled RR to a resounding nine-wicket victory at the Sawai Mansingh Cricket Stadium in Jaipur. Jaiswal's innings of 104* off 60 balls were a masterclass in timing and power-hitting, as he struck nine boundaries and seven sixes to help RR chase down MI's target of 180 runs with ease.

However, before this match, the young opener was struggling to score big runs for the Royals in the tournament. On the other hand, the RR is in great form in the ongoing IPL 2024. Jaiswal has amassed 225 runs in his 8 appearances so far in the tournament.

With the big win over MI, RR cemented their position at the top of the IPL 2024 points table with 14 points from 8 games. The formidable Royals will next face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 27 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in the ongoing tournament.
