Massive blow for team India as Ravindra Jadeja to be ruled out of 2nd Test vs England in all likeliness

In a recent development that might prove to be a major setback for the Indian team which will try to stage a comeback in the 2nd Test against England after losing the 1st Test yesterday, question marks are looming over all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s participation in the 2nd Test in Visakhapatnam from February 2 onwards.
Ravindra Jadeja picked up a fresh hamstring injury yesterday on day 4 while trying to complete a single towards the non-striker’s end before getting run out through a sensational one-handed effort from Ben Stokes during India’s 4th innings chase of 231 runs. Jadeja left the field after scoring 2 runs and the pain was evident in his body language.
The left-hander was sent for first round of scans in Hyderabad (yesterday) after reporting about the discomfort on his hamstring to the team management. Once the reports of his tests came through, they were sent to Mumbai for further assessment and a decision will be taken on his participation for the Vizag Test following inputs that will come from Mumbai.
The results of the assessments in Mumbai institute is expected to arrive later today and with just 3 days left for the 2nd Test, the Rahul Dravid led coaching staff will have a very delicate situation to address. Ravindra Jadeja picked up a total of 6 wickets and scored 89 runs across the 1st Test in Hyderabad.
He once again performed efficiently for the team, picking 3 wickets in the 1st innings then scoring 87 in the 2nd before bowling a very long spell of 34 overs with 2 wickets in England’s 2nd innings with the bat. Jadeja could have proved to be the difference maker during India’s chase if it wasn’t for that moment of magic from the English captain.
Ravindra Jadeja had ran quickly to complete a single in the bowling end but Stokes’ diving one-handed attempt struck the stumps with the all-rounder walking off the field in despair. Not just despair but pain and soreness on his hamstring as well. Had Stokes missed the target then the result would have been different because Jadeja batted really well in the 2nd innings before barely missing out on a century just like Jaiswal and Rahul in the same innings.
He looked very confident with his defensive approach and also made sure to keep the scoreboard ticking as he scored 87 off 180 balls which included 7 fours and 2 sixes. Jadeja was sent back to the pavilion when India had gained a 190-run as he was caught leg before wicket by Joe Root.
Sources Claim Ravindra Jadeja Has Just Pulled Up His Hamstring And Could Be Available For 3rd Test In Case He Missed The 2nd
Internal sources from the team India’s medical staff stated that Ravindra Jadeja was lucky to have his hamstring pulled up sore instead of tearing it which also indicates that Jadeja has only suffered a Grade 1 hamstring injury. The source also said that the Gujarat born cricketer will be available for the 3rd Test in Rajkot in case he misses the 2nd.
“What we understand is that it is a hamstring pull and not tear; so he should be fine for the third Test certainly if he can’t play the second.” – the source claimed.
