A major update has arrived on the star all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is currently out of action with an injury, which he picked up during the ODI series against Australia.
India have faced quite a few injury issues in the ongoing Australia series. Shreyas Iyer has suffered a rib injury, and his comeback date is yet to be announced; however, a huge cloud of uncertainty looms over his return ahead of the upcoming series against South Africa.
Moreover, with all players not a part of the T20I squad having returned, Iyer is yet to get the clearance to travel back to India, where he can start his rehab at the BCCI's CoE and initiate the process since his injury is not a fracture, as per reports.
Nitish Kumar Reddy back for T20Is against Australia
Indian all-rounder Nitish Reddy was another player within the Indian contingent who faced a similar injury concern ahead of the T20I series. Unlike Iyer, Reddy is part of India's main squad for the 5 matches in the shortest format of the game.
Nitish Kumar Reddy, who had to miss out on the Third ODI due to a left quadriceps injury, was replaced by Kuldeep Yadav, but he is back and is fit to feature in the upcoming 5-game T20I series.
Though BCCI's update has not given a clear stance on Reddy's availability ahead of the series, it has been learned through Cricbuzz that his injury is not serious enough to endanger his position in the upcoming T20I series. The first match is scheduled to be played in the capital city of Canberra on the 29th of October.
KL Rahul returns from the Australia tour; All set for India A's appearance in the second Test vs South Africa A
KL Rahul, the seasoned Indian batter who bats as an opener in the Test team and in the middle order as a wicket-keeper batter for India in the ODI team, has flown back to India from Australia after the series ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Indians at the SCG.
Rahul's return might have been accelerated by the BCCI having named him for the India A squad for the second Unofficial Test against South Africa A. The series will be played before the start of the main 2-match home Test series between India and South Africa on the 14th of November.
Rishabh Pant will be seen leading the Indian side in the unofficial Tests, and several big Indian names will be part of the squad, especially for the second unofficial match.
Hardik Pandya to make international comeback ahead of South Africa T20Is
Nitish Kumar Reddy was picked across both formats of the game, following Hardik Pandya's unavailability for the Australia tour. The seasoned Indian campaigner, who was part of India's Champions Trophy and T20 World Cup-winning squad, was ruled out due to injury.
Pandya faced major trouble with his quadriceps as he was ruled out of the Asia Cup final against Pakistan as well. India eventually won the Asia Cup, but Pandya returned to India to report at the BCCI CoE, where he is already in his rehab stages under the watchful eyes of the BCCI.
Pandya is likely to make a comeback ahead of the 30th of November, which would set his comeback ahead of the white-ball games against South Africa.
