Deepak Chahar, Team India bowler, posted a video on Instagram of himself bowling in a cricket match. After nearly five months, the 29-year-old stated he returned to cricket for bowling.

Chahar got injured in a T20I against the West Indies earlier this year. He was also ruled out of the Indian Premier League’s 2022 season. CSK, which paid a record INR 14 crore to sign him in the auction, was without him for the whole season.

Chahar shared a video of himself swinging the bowl in opposite directions on Instagram. He appeared to be in a good groove.

Felt Equally Happy When I Made My Debut: Deepak Chahar

Bowled in a match after more than 5 months felt equally happy when I made my debut #return #soon #bleedblue,” Chahar captioned the video.

He spent time at NCA for the rehabilitation programme, where he had a back injury, exacerbating his situation. He also missed the vital South Africa series and England trip following the IPL 2022. He did not make India’s squad for the impending West Indies tour either.

He was recently spotted strolling around the sidelines of Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is also home to the Ranji Trophy final between Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh.

Chahar had stated in June that he would need another four to five weeks to get match fit.

“It’s a step-by-step process as far as recovery is concerned. Once I am match fit, I will need to play some club-level games to check my fitness,” Chahar told PTI.

During his forced sabbatical from cricket, Chahar married his fiancée Jaya Bhardwaj in Agra. Chahar proposed to Jaya during an IPL match against Punjab Kings in Dubai last season in 2021.
