MCC President Stephen Fry Lands In Deep Trouble After Allegedly Making Offensive Jokes, The Club Defends President – Reports

Stephen Fry, author, actor and comedian and the President of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) allegedly made some offensive statements during the dinner with MCC members at Lord’s. The claim against Fry has been refuted by the club, according to a report in The Telegraph.

Currently, England Cricket Team are on a roll after winning a Test match against New Zealand where they outplayed New Zealand in all the 3 facets of the game. England have had a terrific last 8 months where they have defeated New Zealand, South Africa, India & Pakistan. The ‘Bazball’ is doing wonders for the team where they have changed the face of Test cricket. The duo of Ben Stokes- Brendon McCullum has been quite terrific.

MCC Member on Stephen Fry

MCC Member Chris Waterman issued a complaint and revealed the statement made by Stephen Fry.

“I had intended to say ‘Good evening, ladies and gentlemen,’ but there are no lady members present. I suppose they are off shagging.” reportedly said, Stephen Fry.

Chris Waterman revealed the offensive statement made by Stephen Fry stating “Allahu akbar”, which means “God is greater” is usually “followed by a loud bang”.

Concerns for MCC

It is a huge blow not only for the MCC Club but for the game of cricket. Stephen Fry’s statement about the ladies was kind of disrespectful as there are no more female members present in the MCC. At the same time, using religion in the sport doesn’t sound good. It would be interesting to see how this issue gets handled.

Earlier Stephen Fry was seen speaking on the diary of CEO podcast where he made mind-boggling comments:

“I’ve sort of wanted to go on – now, you’ll have to hold your ears – and say, ‘Hello, how are you, you old c***? It’s f***ing great to see you, you c***y, c***y, c*** c***.’ And [Piers Morgan] to go, ‘Sorry, you can’t say that.’ ‘Oh, I thought this was home of free speech, isn’t it? I thought this was the f***ing home of c***ing free speech, isn’t it?” said Stephen Fry.
