Fans on Twitter reacted after Mumbai Indians finished last on the points table in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They bagged an 18-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 67th game tournament at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday (17th May).
Lucknow Super Giants didn’t have a great start to their innings as Devdutt Padikkal’s torrid run in the league continued and he went back for a two-ball duck. After that skipper KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis (28:) brought the team back into the game with their 48-run stand.
Soon after that, Deepak Hooda (11) perished as Lucknow was left tottering at 69 for three. Nicholas Pooran (75) changed the course of the game for his team. He batted aggressively and along with Rahul (55) added 109 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
In the end, Ayush Badoni (22*) played a brutal hand as Lucknow Super Giants posted a total of 214 runs. For Mumbai Indians, Nuwan Thushara and Piyush Chawla picked three wickets each.
Mumbai Indians were off to a dream start with the bat, thanks to Rohit Sharma (68). The opening batter gave a brutal start to the team and was supported well by Dewald Brevis (23) as the duo added 88 runs for the opening partnership.
But after that, Mumbai Indians lost three quick wickets and were left tottering at 97 for three. Skipper Hardik Pandya (16) and Ishan Kishan (14) struggled to get going. Naman Dhir (62*) kept Mumbai Indians in the game with his brutal fifty but couldn’t take his team home as they fell short by 18 runs.

Moral of the story for teams finishing at 7 wins - when you win, win well, but when you lose, DON'T lose badly. That run-rate bites you hard at the end.

This has to be the worst ever IPL season for Mumbai Indians. It hurts, but glad it's over now. p<!---->i<!---->c<!---->.<!---->t<!---->w<!---->i<!---->t<!---->t<!---->e<!---->r<!---->.<!---->c<!---->o<!---->m<!---->/<!---->8<!---->0<!---->z<!---->v<!---->5<!---->s<!---->R<!---->J<!---->V<!---->V

Disappointing season for Mumbai Indians coming to an end. Lot to ponder over. Some outstanding match winners still didn’t get the result. Badly managed on the field. Not getting good start regularly is another. Not enough support to Jassi either.
