Mumbai Indians are taking on Rajasthan Royals at the DY Patil stadium in Pune in match 9 of IPL 2022. It is the second match of the respective teams and Jos Buttler had a very good start to his innings for the Royals. This was after the Royals lost Yashasvi Jaiswal in the third over of the game.
Jos Buttler assessed the conditions pretty early in this afternoon game. MI skipper Rohit Sharma decided to bring in Basil Thampi after just one over from Daniel Sams. Buttler started by hitting him for a four through mid-on in the second delivery from his over.

Buttler then hit Thampi for back to back sixes who bowl the deliveries a touch fuller. Thampi lost the plot after being attacked by Buttler and then he decided to bowl with more pace on his deliveries. That helped Buttler as he decided to play through the line.
After hitting back to back sixes, Jos Buttler hit him for a four and a six to take 26 off his first over. The over really rattled Mumbai and gave a good momentum to Rajasthan’s innings. He also brought up his fifty off 32 balls motoring Rajasthan’s innings forward.
Earlier in the game, Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mumbai are without Suryakumar Yadav as he is yet to recover from his injury.
“We are going to bowl first. No particular reason. It is a good pitch, we are seeing a trend in the tournament, you have a score in front of you and you know what to do as a batting group. Dew is not going to be a factor. We just felt it is a good pitch, lets have a score in front of us and see what we do as a batting group. We are here to correct our wrongs. Every game gives us an opportunity to do that. We are a young team and learning from every game is what we are trying to do. Same team.” said Rohit Sharma after winning the toss.
For Rajasthan, Navdeep Saini replaced Nathan Coulter-Nile in their playing XI. THey won their first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a dominating fashion while Mumbai lost to Delhi Capitals.
