Nicholas Pooran, on Sunday (July 23), once again showed his hard-hitting prowess with the bat as he powers MI New York to a stunning victory over Washington Freedom at Church Street Park in Morrisville in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC).
Asked to bat first, Washington Freedom scored 160 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. Glenn Phillips top-scored for the Washington-based outfit, scoring 47 off 35 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes. For MI New York, captain Kieron Pollard was the best performer, taking 2 for 33.

In reply, MI New York chased down the total in less than 16 overs with Nicholas Pooran leading the charge with the bat. Shayan Jahangir and Monank Patel gave the New York-based outfit a good start by adding 67 runs for the first wicket.
Nicholas Pooran came out to bat at number three and with the team already in a good position, he made the most of it. The left-hander took the Washington bowlers to the cleaners and played an unbeaten knock of 62 runs. His knock came off just 33 balls and was studded with four fours and six sixes.

Nicholas Pooran came out to bat after the seventh over and managed only 1 run off the first three balls before shifting gears in the ninth over. He began the over by hitting Obus Pienaar for a four. It was followed by his first six of the game as he deposited the ball over long-off.
Nicholas Pooran then hit the left-arm spinner for another six towards the midwicket boundary. It was followed by four leg byes before the batsman smashed another six to collect 26 runs from the over.
