Mohammad Amir claims he would like to play under Virat Kohli not Babar Azam in viral video

Former Pakistani international left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir has claimed that he would have liked to play under the captaincy of former India captain and batting stalwart Virat Kohli who recently welcomed his second child with Bollywood actress wife Anushka Sharma. While Amir chose Kohli’s captaincy and cover drive over Babar Azam’s, Pakistan’s T20 captain Shaheen Afridi remained loyal and chose his fellow countryman.

Both Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Afridi sat down with Pakistan legend Shoaib Malik for a chit-chat and a rapid-fire questionnaire when the trio were taking part in the recently concluded International League T20 (ILT20) in UAE. Malik threw question after question to both of them, keeping them tangled in choosing between the qualities of Virat Kohli and Babar Azam.

Shaheen likes Babar’s cover drive while Amir chooses Virat Kohli’s

The most vital part of their interview was when Shoaib Malik asked Amir and Shaheen to choose from Kohli and Babar’s cover drives. To put it into context, both of the former all-format captains of their respective nations, are two of the classiest batsmen of all time and the cricketing fraternity often makes comparisons as to whose cover drive is more pleasing to the eye and technically correct.

Mohammad Amir, who is known for his admiration for Virat Kohli, chose the 35-year-old while Shaheen Afridi chose his former national team captain. As soon as Shaheen made his choice, the reaction on Amir’s face was priceless and he looked quite shocked as well.

Fans on social media are speculating that Amir has more cricketing knowledge than Shaheen and it got even more evident in the following question. Shoaib Malik would then ask them to choose between India captain Rohit Sharma’s world-famous pick-up stroke which is the pull shot and Pakistan wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan’s flick shot.

Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Afridi differed as well with the former claiming Rohit’s pull shot to be superior to Rizwan’s flick shot. Amir argued that Rohit looks elegant when playing his favorite shot and seems to have plenty of time against pacers, almost as if he treats them like off-spinners.

Amir places Kohli’s captaincy over Babar’s

Then Shoaib Malik would ask whose captaincy is better – Virat Kohli or Babar Azam’s? Mohammad Amir in his ever-growing admiration, firmly chose Kohli while Shaheen Afridi who has been a part of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup finalist team under Babar Azam, claimed that his countryman is a better captain.

Malik also asked Amir and Shaheen to choose between Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins’ bowling. Even there, Amir chose the Indian speedster who recently wreaked havoc against England in the ongoing 5-match Test series while Shaheen again remained true to his country’s sentiment and chose the Australian captain.

Fans again started speculating that Mohammad Amir is a far better thinker of the sport than Shaheen who is just putting forward his agenda against the Indian national players. Both Amir and Shaheen were teammates in the ILT20 for the Desert Vipers who eventually finished 5th in the points table.
