Salman Ali Agha is reportedly set to be named as Pakistan's captain in all three formats. The right-handed batsman Salman Ali Agha is already the T20I captain of Pakistan and is in line to become the captain of the ODI and Test teams as well.

At present, Mohammad Rizwan is the ODI captain of the team, while Shan Masood is leading the Test team. However, both players are reportedly in danger of losing their posts.

Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood under pressure

Rizwan has been under immense pressure since Pakistan's dismal campaign in this year's ICC Champions Trophy where they failed to progress ahead of the group stage despite being the hosts and the defending champions. After that, Pakistan were also whitewashed in the three-match series in New Zealand.

Their performance under Masood has not been impressive either. Earlier this year, Pakistan could only draw the two-match Test series at home against the West Indies and failed to qualify for the WTC final. In the ongoing WTC cycle that will conclude this month with the final, Pakistan are at the ninth spot in the points table.

They suffered series whitewashes against Australia, South Africa as well as Bangladesh. Their only series victory came against Sri Lanka and England. Overall, Pakistan have managed just 3 wins out of 12 games under Masood's captaincy. With a new cycle of WTC set to begin, there are murmurs of a new captain to take charge.

Salman Ali Agha to lead Pakistan in all formats, confirms Basit Ali

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has made a huge claim regarding Pakistan's captaincy. The former cricketer recently took to social media to congratulate Salman Ali Agha on becoming Pakistan's all-format captain.

"Red ball ki bhi captaincy Mubarak all three format captain (congratulations on red-ball captaincy as well), wrote Basit Ali.

Saud Shakeel also is in contention

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to make any announcement regarding the change in captaincy. Reports also suggest that Saud Shakeel is in contention too to become the Test captain although Salman Ali Agha remains the frontrunner.

Meanwhile, Pakistan recently whitewashed Bangladesh in the 3-match series at home and will be eyeing a similar performance on the upcoming tour of West Indies where they will play three T20Is and as many ODIs.
