The ongoing tensions within the Middle East region of Asia and the internal tensions in Pakistan have fueled recent times, hence not allowing the PCB to host PSL matches throughout all venues that were decided earlier.
The Pakistan Super League, a franchise-level T20 tournament that is hosted by the PCB, features several overseas players, and it is their responsibility to ensure the safety of all of these cricketers.
Last time around, the PSL and IPL were held during the Indo-Pak war-like situation after the Pahalgam attacks. The Pakistan Super League and the IPL contests were affected by the tensions, and the players faced a massive security crisis; hence, PCB doesn't want to risk it this time.
PSL venues likely to be reduced for 2026
The PCB had formerly announced that they were looking to expand the PSL and hence added two new franchises to the competition. The addition of franchises easily depicts that new venues will be added as the home ground of the respective teams.
However, at the meeting, which is destined to be held on the 22nd of March within the PCB committee, several crucial discussions are likely to take place surrounding the tournament. The report from Saleem Khaliq suggests that a possibility says that the venues for the competition might be reduced.

No PSL 2026 Matches in Peshawar and Rawalpindi
The Pakistan Super League would include a total of eight franchises, with two new franchises included in the tournament. Hyderabad Kingsmen and Multan Sultans (formerly Sialkot Stallionz) are the two franchises that will be part of the Pakistan Super League from 2026.
With the two new franchises, the tournament is meant to be played in over eight venues across Pakistan. The tournament is about to start on the 26th of March and will be hosted till the 3rd of May. This is the 11th edition of the competition.
After the meeting, it has been assured that foreign boards have considered Peshawar as a restricted zone and have not allowed their players to travel up there. Pakistan Super League management has considered that the matches will not be held in Peshawar & Rawalpindi due to the current situation.
