Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi might skip the upcoming ICC Executive Board meeting in Dubai.
According to a PTI report, Naqvi has planned the move to avoid a confrontation with the Indian cricket board over the Asia Cup trophy controversy.
After winning the final, the Indian team refused to receive the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi during the presentation ceremony.
The PCB chief didn’t assign someone else to complete the handover and reportedly left the venue with the trophy, which has since remained locked inside the ACC headquarters in Dubai.
Mohsin Naqvi Skips ICC Meeting Amid Ongoing Asia Cup Trophy Controversy
Mohsin Naqvi reportedly refused multiple BCCI requests to formally hand over the trophy, insisting that India must collect it directly from him.
According to reports, Naqvi even proposed a presentation ceremony in Dubai, but the BCCI declined, warning that the issue would be raised at the ICC meeting.
The four-day ICC meeting, which began on Tuesday, was expected to feature a tense exchange between the two boards. However, Naqvi is now likely to skip the event, citing domestic political obligations. PCB insiders have not provided details regarding his absence.
In Naqvi’s place, PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Syed is set to represent the board at the ICC meeting on November 7, while Naqvi might still participate virtually if required. Naqvi has not attended an ICC meeting since Jay Shah became chairman of the governing body last year.

India earned USD 150,000 (approximately ₹1.33 crore) in prize money from the Asian Cricket Council, while Pakistan, the runners-up, received USD 75,000 (around ₹66.5 lakh). The BCCI rewarded the Indian players and support staff with a ₹21 crore bonus for their title-winning effort.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia Issues Firm Warning to Mohsin Naqvi
Earlier on Monday, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia issued a firm warning to Mohsin Naqvi. Saikia revealed that the BCCI had written to the ACC nearly ten days earlier, requesting the handover of the trophy, but had yet to receive a response.
He expressed confidence that the global cricket body would intervene and ensure India receives the trophy.
"Ten days ago, we wrote to the ACC Chairperson, requesting that he hand over the trophy to the BCCI at the earliest. However, to this day, we have not received the trophy. We are waiting for another day," he had told ANI.
"If we do not get the trophy by 3 November, a meeting will be held at the ICC headquarters in Dubai. We will raise our grievance before the apex body of international cricket. I am sure ICC will do justice and help India get the trophy at the earliest."
