Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is all set to become the new President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). It is being said that Mohsin Naqvi will be appointed as the new ACC President in the board meeting in October-November.
The PCB chairman will replace BCCI secretary Jay Shah as the ACC President. Naqvi’s impending appointment came in the wake of Shah’s recent appointment as the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Reports revealed that this anticipated appointment is part of the ACC's rotational leadership system, which sees a new president assuming office periodically. Well, Jay Shah, who had previously served as ACC Chairman for three years and received a one-year extension earlier this year, has now taken on the global role at the ICC, leaving the position up for grabs.
A Cricket Pakistan report claimed that the decision to appoint Mohsin Naqvi as the ACC chairman was made during a recent ACC members' meeting, where the PCB chairman’s elevation was discussed and agreed upon by board members. It will mark the beginning of a new era for the Asian countries.
As the incoming ACC President, Mohsin Naqvi will play a crucial role in overseeing major cricketing events in the Asian region, including the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2025, which will feature a T20 format in India, and the subsequent ODI edition of the tournament scheduled for 2027 in Bangladesh.
'When Jay Shah steps down, the PCB chief will take over as ACC President'
The source told PTI: “When the ACC meets later this year, it will confirm that Naqvi will be the next president for a two-year term... When Jay Shah steps down, the PCB chief will take over.”
Alongside his role as Chairman of the PCB, Mohsin Naqvi also holds the position of Pakistan's Interior Minister. With his forthcoming appointment as ACC President, Mohsin Naqvi will be juggling three major roles, highlighting his vast experience and leadership skills across diverse fields.
Earlier, Interior Minister Naqvi claimed that the recent surge in terrorist attacks in Balochistan was intended to sabotage the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, scheduled to take place in Pakistan in mid-October.

Mohsin Naqvi was quoted as saying by the Tribune Express, “We have identified clear links, showing that they [the terrorists] planned to ruin the SCO conference. A lot of people are in anguish [about the SCO meeting] so that it should not be organized. Those who acknowledge Pakistan will welcome them. They are very respectable to us, but those who do not accept the state and take up arms are terrorists, and we will deal with them.”
The PCB chief was also blamed for the Pakistan team’s humiliating defeat of 10 wickets against Bangladesh in the first Test in Rawalpindi. Currently, Pakistan and Bangladesh are facing each other in the second and final Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The hosts posted 274 runs on the board in the first innings in the crucial second Test, thanks to Salman Agha, Saim Ayub, and Shan Masood’s fifties against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.
