Former India captain MS Dhoni shared a heartfelt note on Instagram after India’s third T20 World Cup title. In the special post, MS Dhoni dedicated a few words to the head coach Gautam Gambhir as well.
For the title, the former skipper, who guided the Men in Blue to glory back in 2007, congratulates all the team members, support staff, and all the fans who were with the team throughout the T20 World Cup 2026 journey. For Gautam Gambhir, MS Dhoni used the word “killer”.

Through an Instagram post, MS Dhoni explained that it was a pleasure to see the Men in Blue with the trophy. Acknowledging Gautam Gambhir’s role, Dhoni said that the blend of smile and intensity was a killer combination. For Jasprit Bumrah, the former keeper-batter MS Dhoni said that it is better not to write anything about the pacer, as he is a champion bowler.
"History gets created at Ahmedabad, big congratulations to the team, support staff, and to all the fans of the Indian Cricket Team worldwide. Such a pleasure to see all of u play. Coach Sahab's smile looks great on u, intensity with a smile is a killer combo, very well done. enjoy guys (BUMRAH ke baare mein kuch na likhoon tou hi acha hai. CHAMPION BOWLER)”, MS Dhoni wrote on his Instagram post, along with a photo of India’s T20 World Cup 2026 trophy celebration.

Jasprit Bumrah did not allow the Kiwis to expand their wings
New Zealand instantly came under pressure in the second innings, as the target was 256. Batters like Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, Daryl Mitchell, and Glenn Phillips had the potential to make the run chase more intense. But it was Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel who made the run chase impossible.
Bumrah was eventually awarded the best performer of the match over Sanju Samson’s explosive 89-run knock from 46 deliveries. Jasprit Bumrah took a total of 4 wickets in his 4-over spell for an amazing economy rate of 3.75. During the course, the seamer claimed the wickets of Rachin Ravindra, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner, James Neesham, and Matt Henry.
“Feels extremely special because I've played one final in my home venue, but couldn't win that one; today I won. I knew wicket was a flat one, so I had to use all my experience. Before this tournament, I was in that zone where I felt I was trying too hard because I was bowling well but felt I was trying too hard”, Jasprit Bumrah said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
A special Man of the Match award for the pacer
“This tournament, I just tried to let the game come to me, and that worked really well. My individual assessment has always been my strength, and getting MOTM at my home ground in a World Cup final, it doesn't get better than that”, he added further.
In front of India’s 255-run total, the Kiwi batting order shattered like a house of glass. In 19 overs, they lost all of their batters for only 159 runs, allowing India to claim the final by 96 runs. At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the New Zealand cricket team was barely able to offer any significant challenge to Team India.
