MS Dhoni’s Fan Walks 1400km From Haryana to Ranchi To Meet Him
Former Indian captain MS Dhoni may have retired from international cricket but his fan base is still going strong. A die-hard fan from Haryana, who goes by the name, Ajay Gill, has claimed that he traveled from his homeplace in Haryana just to meet his idol.
Dhoni currently plays for Chennai Super Kings only. He will be part of their side that will play in the second phase of the IPL 2021 in UAE. The 40-year-old has been out of form, but he continues to thrive in his captaincy role for the franchise.
Recently, a crazed 18-year-old fan decided to get some time face-to-face with his idol, Dhoni. In order to do so, he walked all the way from Haryana to Dhoni’s hometown in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He started his journey on July 29 and took around 16 days to reach the place.
The fan was adamant that the CSK captain would spend at least 10 minutes with him considering how far he traveled. “Dhoniji se mil ke hi ghar lautunga (I will go back home once I meet Dhoni),” he was quoted as saying by Telegraph India.
The fan had decided to wait until MS Dhoni returns from his IPL assignment
Unfortunately for Ajay, the wicket-keeper batsman Dhoni had already left for Dubai along with his CSK teammates. The squad will set up camp in Dubai and practice for the upcoming resumption of IPL which starts from September 19.
Even though he was told that Dhoni would be back only after about three months, Ajay wanted to stay in wait for a chance to meet his hero. On being asked the purpose of his visit apart from meeting the former Indian captain, Ajay said that he wanted Dhoni’s blessings to pursue his dream of being a cricketer.
He claimed that he had given up on the dream after MS Dhoni announced his retirement, which marks its first anniversary today. But now, he wants to restart his playing days. After coming to know about Ajay, a friendly countryman by the name of Anuraj Chawla decided to pay for his ticket back home.
“We are impressed that he walked all the way from Haryana but convinced him to return now and come again later,” Anurag said.
The IPL 2021 will resume on September 19 and go on till October 15. MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings will face-off against Mumbai Indians in the first clash after the restart.
