Daryl Mitchell was left embarrassed and had to run the whole length of the pitch twice alone after MS Dhoni decided against taking a run in the ongoing game between Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The incident took place in the final over of the CSK innings when MS Dhoni was facing left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh. Before the final over, the former CSK skipper had faced five balls and managed to score only three runs. Arshdeep started with a wide before MS Dhoni hit him for a four.

The second ball was a dot. It was followed by a wide before MS Dhoni decided to keep the strike and sent back Daryl Mitchell. On the third ball of the over, Arshdeep bowled a low full-toss and the former India skipper hit the ball towards deep cover.

As soon as he hit the shot, Daryl Mitchell set off for a single without realizing that MS Dhoni was in no mood to rotate the strike. By the time the New Zealand batsman realized what was going on, he was standing beside his CSK teammate at the striker's end. The right-handed batsman quickly turned back to get back inside the crease at the non-striker's end.

In the meantime, the fielder collected the ball and took a shy at the stumps. However, he missed the target and Mitchell managed to get back inside the crease.

Watch as MS Dhoni refuses to run:

Mitchell did not face any delivery in the final over. Incidentally, MS Dhoni was run out on the last ball of the over while trying to take a double. Talking about the game, CSK finished their innings on 162 for 7. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad once again led his team from the front, scoring 62 off 42 balls. No other CSK batter could touch the 30-run mark. At the time of writing this report, PBKS were 30 for 1 in the fifth over.
