Legendary India captain MS Dhoni has finally spoken on the trending social media topic 'Thala for a reason.' The trend became a hit on various social media platforms where Dhoni's huge fan group lauded their hero for his great achievements in the world of cricket.

'Thala' is a Tamil word that means 'Leader' or 'Boss.' Dhoni has been associated with the franchise 'Chennai Super Kings' in the IPL, which is from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The official language of the state is Tamil. As a result, Dhoni has a huge fan group from Chennai and they call their beloved hero 'Thala.'

MS Dhoni finally breaks silence on the trend 'Thala for a reason'

Recently, during an event, Dhoni was asked about the trend 'Thala for a reason.' The former Indian skipper revealed that he also came to know about this trend from social media platforms only.

Dhoni thanked his loyal fans for their continued support and stated that he does not have to defend himself on social media as his fans do the job for him.

"I myself wasn't aware of it. Even I got to know about this via Instagram. So, I am grateful for my fans because I don't have to defend myself on social media. Whenever needed, my fans do it for me. Whenever needed, my fans praise me. So, I am not required to do anything. So, this was also a part of that," Dhoni said in a video that has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter).

Dhoni further added that he might not be active on social media but his fans still wait for his posts. He concluded the conversation by saying 'Thala for a reason.'

"I am very grateful to my fans. Even though I am not very active on social media but still they love the fact that whenever I post something, they wait for it and love it. Thala for a reason!" the former CSK captain added.

MS Dhoni is still an active cricketer

MS Dhoni has already retired from international cricket. His last match was the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, where India suffered a heartbreaking defeat to bow out of the tournament.

But Dhoni is still playing the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings. He led CSK from the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008. He was the captain of the franchise from 2008-2023 (except 2016 and 2017 when CSK got banned).

Under Dhoni's leadership, Chennai Super Kings turned into a formidable cricket team over the years. They have won five IPL titles so far, with the latest one being in the year 2023, where they won the final off the last ball of the tournament. The Super Kings are the joint most successful franchise in the history of the IPL alongside Mumbai Indians.
