At the KFC T20 Max series in Queensland next month, Mukesh Choudhary and Chetan Sakariya will represent the international contingent in the limelight.

As part of the previous exchange arrangement with the Chennai-based MRF Pace Foundation, which had been put on hold due to Covid-19, they will also train at Cricket Australia’s National Cricket Centre in Brisbane and participate in the Queensland Bulls’ pre-season practices.

The MRF Pace Foundation was established in 1987, and exchanges with Australia started in 1992 when the academy welcomed players from outside of India.

Glenn McGrath was one of the first people to come and train with Dennis Lillee, who was the director of MRF at the time. McGrath eventually assumed the direction after Lillee left in 2012 following a 25-year tenure.

Fast bowlers from several different nations, notably Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson of Australia, Chaminda Vaas of Sri Lanka, Heath Streak of Sri Lanka, and Mohammad Asif of Pakistan, have all received training at the academy over the years.

Similarly, as part of the program, young Indian quicks have been offered the chance to visit Brisbane. The last of these, in 2019, was Mukhtar Hussain, a 23-year-old right-arm quick from Assam, and Prasidh Krishna, who has since played eleven ODIs for India.

Chetan Sakariya will play for Sunshine Coast:

Chetan Sakariya gained notoriety while representing Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021; he has since played in an ODI and two T20Is in addition to representing Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022; meanwhile, Choudhary made an impression while representing Chennai Super Kings in his first IPL season this year, taking 16 wickets in 13 games.

Norman Vanua, Chad Soper, and Charles Amini, three international players from Papua New Guinea, will join the two.

While Chetan Sakariya will be playing for Wynnum-Manly, Sakariya will be playing for Sunshine Coast. All three PNG players, who were regulars for their national team during the most recent World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe, are members of Sandgate-Redcliffe. While Amini is a legspinner all-rounder, Vanua and Soper are medium pacers.
