The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has granted partial No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to six players participating in the Pakistan Super League. Notably, the board has exempted left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the upcoming T20 International series against New Zealand to manage his workload.
Bangladesh players are currently on a break following their recent 2-1 ODI series win against Pakistan at home. Most squad members will regroup after Eid-ul-Fitr to begin a white-ball training camp on Friday, March 27, in preparation for the upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand at home.
BCB Grants Partial NOCs for PSL Ahead of New Zealand Series
The PSL will be played from March 26 to May 3. According to a report by the Daily Star, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has granted partial clearances to Mustafizur Rahman, Parvez Hossain Emon, Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, and Rishad Hossain.
These contracted players will miss the initial national training camp in Dhaka. The board granted these partial clearances to ensure that most players remain available for the crucial ODI series against New Zealand.
Direct qualification for next year’s ICC ODI World Cup is on the line for Bangladesh. Based on the ICC rankings, the top eight teams (excluding the hosts) will secure automatic qualification.
“Mustafizur has been given NOC from March 26 to April 12 and then April 24 to March 3. Mustafizur will be available for the ODI series. He will be exempted from the T20I series as we look at other bowling options,” a BCB official informed The Daily Star.
BCB Balances PSL Commitments with National Duty Ahead of New Zealand Series
Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana, and Rishad Hossain have received clearances until April 12. These four players will remain available for selection for both the ODI and T20I series against New Zealand, starting in mid-April.
Meanwhile, Parvez Hossain Emon has received clearance until April 21. The national selectors are currently considering him for the T20I matches. The New Zealand team will arrive in Dhaka on April 13, with ODIs scheduled on April 17, 20, and 23, followed by three T20Is.
Mustafizur Rahman secured a direct signing with Lahore Qalandars for 6.44 crore Pakistani rupees. Parvez Hossain Emon will join him at Lahore Qalandars after being bought for 6 million rupees. Rishad Hossain will represent Rawalpindi PindiZ after securing a 3 crore rupee contract.
BCB Backs Overseas Opportunities for Players
Shoriful Islam signed with Peshawar Zalmi after initially going unsold. He will join Nahid Rana and Tanzid Hasan Tamim at the franchise. BCB cricket operations chairman Nazmul Abedeen Fahim had stated that the board supports players gaining valuable experience from overseas leagues.
Following the recent series victory over Pakistan, Bangladesh climbed one spot to ninth in the ICC ODI rankings. Even a clean sweep against New Zealand will not lift them further, but they can reduce the nine-point gap behind eighth-placed England.
During the T20 World Cup 2026, the International Cricket Council (ICC) removed Bangladesh from the tournament after the board demanded their matches be shifted from India to Sri Lanka following an earlier dispute over Mustafizur Rahman’s participation in the Indian Premier League.
