Veteran Pakistan left-arm speedster Wahab Riaz has opened up about retirement plans from international cricket stating that he plans to retire after the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which will be held in India.

Riaz is currently out of the scheme of things of Pakistan selectors and is already 36-year-old and doesn’t have many years left in international cricket. He last played Test cricket for Pakistan in the year 2018 against Australia.

His last One Day Internationals game came at home in 2020 against Zimbabwe and his last T20 Internationals game also came in 2020 against New Zealand.

The 36-year-old left-arm speedster has played 27 Tests, 91 ODIs and 36 T20Is and has bagged 83, 120 and 34 wickets in his career.

Veteran Pakistan speedster believes that one day everyone has to say goodbye to cricket but he feels he has got two or three years left in him. Speaking on A Sports Wahab Riaz asserted:

Everyone has to say goodbye to cricket one day but I still feel, I have good two to three years left,”

Wahab feels that fitness and performance will play a big role in him playing international cricket as he doesn’t want to be a burden on the team just because of his name and past achievements.

He also stated that after he retires from international cricket he will focus on playing the cricket leagues around the world. Wahab asserted:

My aim is to play 2023 World Cup and after that, I will say goodbye to cricket from Pakistan, I will look to play leagues all around the world,
