Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant believes that his captaincy is going great in IPL 2021 with the help of seniors like Ricky Ponting in their management. The left-handed batsman Rishabh Pant is Delhi Capitals’ captain in IPL 2021 and leading a team for the first time in IPL.

Rishabh Pant managed to change the fate of the Delhi Capitals against Mumbai Indians after his team defeated the Rohit Sharma-led side in IPL 2021 after losing in the previous five encounters.

It was a dominating victory for Delhi Capitals as they restricted Mumbai Indians to just 137-9 in the 1st innings. Amit Mishra bowled a great spell for Delhi Capitals, dismissing 4 wickets of Mumbai Indians. Later, Delhi Capitals managed to chase the target by 6 wickets with five balls to go. Mishra was adjudged player of the match for his fabulous bowling show.

My Captaincy Is Going Great, Says Rishabh Pant

While speaking to ANI during a virtual press conference after the match, Rishabh Pant said that he thinks his captaincy is going great in IPL 2021. He also said that the presence of Ricky Ponting in the management helps him a lot to lead the team effectively.

“I think, yes, as a wicketkeeper I keep on reading the game and it helps me a lot. With seniors around and Ricky Ponting in our management, I think my captaincy is going great,” said Rishabh Pant.

Delhi Capitals travelled to Chennai for their match against Mumbai Indians. The Rishabh Pant and co. played their previous three games at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. When asked about the challenges of travelling during the rising Covid-19 situation in the country, Pant said that BCCI has done a great job in the matter.

“I think it’s slightly challenging because of Covid. But as a team, we are not focusing on outside things. BCCI has done really well to give us a good bubble and travelling thing. We are focusing more on cricket,” the wicket-keeper batsman Pant said.

Pant was nominated as the new skipper for Delhi Capitals after the team’s regular skipper Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of IPL 2021. Iyer sustained a shoulder injury during the ODI series against England last month that required surgery.

Under Pant’s leadership, Delhi Capitals have won 3 matches out of 4 in IPL 2021 so far. They hold 2nd spot in the IPL 2021 points table with 6 points. Delhi Capitals will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next game that will be played on April 25 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
