Former Indian wicket-keeper Naman Ojha lauded Rishabh Pant for the way he has improved his keeping and backed him to become the best wicket-keeper batsman for team India. Rishabh Pant has had an excellent touch with the bat in the recent Tests and has converted his confidence into his wicketkeeping skills which have improved tremendously.
The left-hander had produced one of the best knocks in recent times in the final Test against Australia in Brisbane and took the team over the line to win the series. He continued his form into the home tests against England and showed a brilliant technique of wicket-keeping skills in a tough turning track at Chennai. His heroics with the bat and the gloves have earned him a spot back in the Indian limited-overs squad against England.
Rishabh Will Improve Day-By-Day Reckons Naman Ojha
Naman Ojha who recently announced his retirement has reckoned that it is only a matter of time till Rishabh becomes the best Indian keeper-batsman. He added that if Rishabh can keep in Tests, he can surely keep in ODIs and T20s. He lauded the batting skills of Pant which have had a great impact in the Test matches so far and Pant looks a lot more dangerous for the opponents.
“Rishabh (Pant) will improve day-by-day. If he is keeping in Test matches, definitely he will improve in one-dayers and T20Is. It is very tough to keep in a Test match. Rishabh is also a tremendous batsman. I am sure that he will improve and, in the next one year, he will become the best keeper,” Naman Ojha said in an interview with Sportskeeda.
Naman Ojha Hails Kl Rahul And Rishabh Pant’s Fitness
Kl Rahul has been keeping in the limited over matches for India in their last one-day series and Naman Ojha heaped praise on him for improving his fitness levels which are highly needed for a wicketkeeper. He also told about Rahul and Pant’s match-winning ability providing extra cushion to the Indian side and both have carried their batting confidence behind the stumps.
“KL Rahul has improved as a wicketkeeper. His fitness is very good. Fitness is very important in wicketkeeping. He is doing it from the last year or so, keeping in one-dayers and T20s. He is a match-winner with the bat. He and Rishabh will improve, definitely. Batting gives them confidence. When they score runs, they are very much relaxed behind the stumps. That is more important for a wicketkeeper,” Naman Ojha added.
