Nasser Hussain calls out Ben Stokes for his take on controversial DRS decision of Zak Crawley

Former England captain Nasser Hussain has clapped back at current English captain Ben Stokes for blaming the Decision Review System technology when Zak Crawley was given out for a controversial lbw that was originally pronounced as not out by the on-field umpire. Crawley was playing very aggressively and had the decision remained in his favor, England could have walked away from Vizag with a 2-0 lead.
Nasser Hussain was answering questions from all over the world in the media outlet Mail Online’s section “Ask Nasser”. Journalists as well as cricket fans threw their questions to him and they mainly revolved around England’s ongoing 5-match Test series tour of India.
A person named Matt Davies would ask the 55-year-old about his thoughts on Ben Stokes trying to discard the DRS technology by claiming, “Technology got that one wrong” after the match had ended with a 106-run loss for his side.
To put it into context, what happened was that during the 42nd over’s final ball bowled by Kuldeep Yadav in the 4th innings, his orthodox left-arm wrist spin landed and went straight into Zak Crawley who missed the entire line and remained stuck in his follow-through.
The ball appeared to be missing a leg in the first instance as it had angled towards the leg-side after pitching and the on-field Umpire would signal not-out after the bowler and his teammates went at him. As the umpire shook his head, Rohit Sharma due to the insistence from Kuldeep, took the DRS and to everyone’s surprise, it worked.
Ball tracking showed that the ball would not drift across much despite the first look and it went straight into the leg stump. Joy and happiness flooded the ACA-VDCA stadium in Vizag as India had finally got the danger man out who was showing glimpses of a game-changing knock that could have been a hundred or even a double hundred, given the form Crawley was in.
But after his departure, England would eventually get bowled out for 292 with Ben Stokes appearing to the media and stating that the Crawley dismissal was the fault of the technology.
DRS Is Brilliant says Nasser Hussain Opines On Ben Stokes’ Comments
To know the views of a former cricketer himself, Matt Davies asked Nasser Hussain and the latter denied Ben Stokes’ comments, stating that DRS is brilliant. The 55-year-old would compare the DRS with the VAR technology in Football, claiming that the latter doesn’t get every decision correct and said that technology cannot be always 100% correct.
“I think that DRS is brilliant. Look at VAR and how football doesn’t get it right. That’s not been the case in cricket. Occasionally technology is not 100 percent accurate. That’s why we have umpire’s call.” – Nasser Hussain said on Mail Online.
“This decision did look slightly odd and most of us would have thought it was clipping leg stump. But the game is about angles — and the left-arm in Kuldeep Yadav bowling over the wicket does create an angle — so I don’t think we should doubt the technology.” – Hussain concluded.
