The squad is an experienced one and New Zealand have decided to send a full-strength side for the series. Sophie Devine will lead the side which also has the experience of Suzie Bates and Lea Tahuhu.
Women's T20 World Cup stars in the squad
There are a no. of youngsters in the squad like Eden Carson, Izzy Gaze, and Georgia Plimmer. Carson impressed in the recently concluded Women's T20 World Cup with her tidy overs of off-spin bowling.
Georgia Plimmer provided the team with much-needed starts at the top which helped them get fiery starts in the powerplay. Wicketkeeper Izzy Gaze played a handy cameo in the lower order throughout the tournament. Her crucial cameo in the semi-final proved just enough for her team to register a thrilling win.
The 15-member squad also has Amelia Kerr, who was arguably the best player of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. Kerr was adjudged the Player of the Match in the final and also the Player of the Tournament.
Amelia Kerr finished as the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 15 wickets in just 6 matches at an average of 7.33 and an economy rate of 4.85. She also scored 135 runs with the bat and was the highest run-scorer in the final.
Polly Inglis has been included in the squad as the second wicketkeeper after Izzy Gaze. This is Inglis' maiden call-up to the international squad.
The White Ferns will travel to India for a three-match ODI series beginning on October 24. The three ODIs will be played on October 24, 27, and 29 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
The series will be played just a few days after New Zealand Women's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph in Dubai. In the final, the White Ferns defeated South Africa by 32 runs to win the country's first-ever cricket World Cup title (Men or Women).
With the next ODI World Cup to be played in India in the year 2025, the series is significant for both teams as they aim to prepare for the next ICC tournament now.
