Australian cricketer David Warner opened up about his celebration after reaching a ton in the ongoing first Test against Pakistan in Perth. He said that it was a ‘shush’ to the outside noise that had been there for a while.

David Warner was the wrecker in chief behind Australia’s carnage on Day 1 of the Test against Pakistan. The opening batter played a stupendous innings in Perth and made sure that he starts the series on high, which also will be his last in the career.

David Warner negotiated the tricky phase pretty well at the start and after that unleashed himself. He took the attack to the Pakistan bowlers and played some crisp shots. He timed almost every ball to perfection and made sure that he put his team in a dominating position.

David Warner brought up his 26th Test century in just 125 balls and made many stand and applaud him. When he reached his ton, he caught the attention of many with his celebration. The batter first did his trademark jump celebration and after that, he put his finger on his lips.

David Warner opened up about his celebration, saying that he’s allowed to celebrate in whatever way he wants to. He targeted the media saying that if he fails in the next game, there will be headlines.

“You saw what it was. A nice little quiet shush,” he said at Perth Stadium on Thursday night, as quoted by Fox Cricket.

“Mitch is entitled to his opinion. He is a former player. It is anyone who wants to write stories about me and tries to get headlines. That stuff does not bother me,” Warner said.
“It is just the fact that I have to go out there, do what I have to do, and I am allowed to celebrate how I want.”

“It is not about me being up against the wall. It is your guy’s job to write stories. If someone is not scoring runs, then you are entitled to do that,” he said. For me, it is about trying my best and scoring runs. I don’t feel any extra pressure. I don’t feel any other point that I have to prove.

“I am getting older, so your games are limited. It is game by game now. If I fail the next innings, there will probably be headlines, but it is what it is in a game of cricket. If people are out to get you or make a headline from your name, then so be it. I can’t worry about that. I just have to keep scoring runs and put my team in a great position.”

Former Australia pacer Mitchell Johnson hasn’t been going easy on David Warner for the last few weeks. Johnson targeted him, saying that he didn’t deserve a hero send-off as he was involved in the sandpaper gate incident.

David Warner replied to all his critics in style as he played a blinder of an innings. His knock made sure that Australia ended Day 1 of the Test on a high note.

AUS vs PAK: “You’ve got to be brave,” David Warner on his Scoop Shot against Shaheen Afridi

David Warner played some glorious shots in his innings. But the highlight of his innings was a scoop shot that he played against Shaheen Afridi for six over the head of the keeper.

He talked about that shot, saying that his teammates were laughing, and added that one needs to be brave while playing such shots. He elaborated:

“I actually thought it was shorter than what it was until I saw the replay. The boys were laughing. Uzzie came up to me and said, ‘That was an unbelievable shot.’ And I said, ‘What, it was a short ball? He’s like, ‘That wasn’t short, that could have been a cover drive. You’ve got to be brave.”

David Warner ended with a knock of 164 runs off 211 balls. He also hit 16 fours and 4 sixes. At stumps on Day 1, Australia were 346/5. Alex Carey (14) and Mitchell Marsh (15) are unbeaten at the crease. For Pakistan, apart from Agha Salman everyone has picked a wicket.
