PC: X

India bowling coach Morne Morkel has dropped a massive update on the injured all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who missed three T20Is due to neck spasms after recovering from his quadriceps injury. Though the final verdict on his return is awaited from the BCCI.

Seasoned all-rounder Hardik Pandya's injury before the Asia Cup final led to Nitish Kumar Reddy's selection for the ODI as well as T20I squads in the Australia tour. However, Reddy too suffered the same injury during the net sessions ahead of the third ODI at Sydney.

He, too, was ruled out of the last ODI due to a quadriceps injury, and after recovering from it, he sustained another major concern in the form of a neck spasm that kept him out of the first three T20Is against Australia.

"He did all his work that was needed or expected of him today" - Morne Morkel drops a major update on Nitish Kumar Reddy

Reddy recovered from the quadriceps injury a long time ago but has been troubled by these neck spasms, which developed before the onset of the Canberra T20I match and delayed his return further.

India's bowling coach, Morne Morkel, shared a massive update on the all-rounder and his possible return amid the Australia series. He clarified that Reddy looks good and has taken up every session as much as was expected from him ahead of the fourth T20I, but then clarified that his return is over for further assessment.

“Yeah, he did all his work that was needed or expected of him today, fielding, batting, and bowling. And he picked all of that. So, we’ll find out now after the assessment where he is at," Morkel told reporters on Wednesday.

Nitish Kumar Reddy was never released from the squad-When will he play next?

Despite his injury, Nitish Kumar Reddy was never released from their squad or replaced by any other player in the Indian dugout. India have rather released seasoned spinner Kuldeep Yadav from the series squad as of now.

The 22-year-old all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was spotted batting in the nets during India's preparation sessions for the remaining matches in the Australia tour. Even BCCI's previous statement gave clarity on him being ruled out for three games; the update on tomorrow's game is awaited.

Reddy was initially expected to recover in time, but faced neck trouble. The BCCI had mentioned that his further participation would depend on his physical fitness, assessed by the medics.

Travis Head has been released from the Australian squad - Who will replace him in the XI?

Australian veteran top-order batter Travis Head has been released from the Australian squad. The left-handed batter had several starts for his team but could not take it any further; however, his release has been made to feature in the Sheffield Shield.

Matt Short, the all-rounder, might be seen opening alongside the skipper, Mitchell Marsh, and Josh Phillipe might be included in the playing XI as his replacement. He also played for Australia in their First ODI as a replacement for Alex Carey.
