Australian opener David Warner is fresh off his World Cup-winning campaign with the national team. They won their sixth World Cup title by beating India in the final on Sunday, November 19. The southpaw scored 535 runs at an average of 48.64 and ended as the sixth-highest run-getter in the campaign.
David Warner has already hinted that he will be retiring from Test cricket after the series against Pakistan. However, the southpaw did not disclose anything regarding his retirement from other formats.
He was in the pink of his health throughout the World Cup. His efforts in the field especially in the semi-final and the final gave glimpses of how fit he is still as a player. He covered the ground and ran across the pitch as swiftly as he ever did. Warner was absolutely electric in the field in the semi-final and the final.

Meanwhile, there have been talks of late that David Warner will play his final Test on his home ground in Sydney against Pakistan in January 2024. However, former Australian cricketer Simon O’Donnell believes no cricketer should get the privilege of choosing a farewell Test.
“I don’t like farewell tours. I didn’t like it back in Steve Waugh’s day or Mark Taylor’s day. I think you’re invited to play for Australia and it’s an honour to do that. Don’t think anyone has the right to say, ‘I’ll finish, on the 30th of June this year.’ Do you make him (Bancroft) wait another summer? Because that’s what he’s going to have to do if that plan (to play Warner) goes ahead,” said O’Donnell to SEN Radio on the southpaw.
