Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar and former England cricketer Steve Harmison picked the best batter and bowler from the recently concluded India vs England Test series on ESPNcricinfo. Both the commentators were on the same page and named the same players.

Sanjay Manjrekar and Steve Harmison picked Yashasvi Jaiswal as the best batter from the India vs England Test series. The young batter looked a class apart in the series and was one of the main reasons why the Rohit Sharma-led won the series by the margin of 4-1 and dominated the opposition.

Yashasvi Jaiswal ended the series as the highest run-getter and maintained a huge distance from the second-leading run-getter. He amassed 712 runs to his name and became only the second player from Team India to muster over 700 runs in the bilateral Test series.

Yashasvi Jaiswal started the series with a bang as he played a stellar innings of 80 runs in the Hyderabad. In the next match in Vizag, he made sure that he went two steps ahead and tonked a magnificent double century that brought India back in the series after losing the first game.

Yashasvi Jaiswal didn’t stop there as in the second innings of the Rajkot Test, he hit another double century. The batter played an attacking innings and helped India register a dominating win to go 2-1 up in the series. In the last two games, he hit two half-centuries as India won the series by the margin of 4-1.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had an average of 89 in the series as he hit two double centuries and three half-centuries. What was impressive about his batting was he batted with an aggressive mindset in all the games and made England get the taste of their medicine.

Yashasvi Jaiswal during the series also completed 1000 runs in Test cricket. He achieved the feat in his 9th Test and became the fastest batter in the history of Indian cricket to score 1000 runs in Test cricket, surpassing Cheteshwar Pujara, who achieved the feat in 11 games.

Yashasvi Jaiswal also hit 26 sixes in the series, which is the most by an Indian player against an opponent, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar, who had smashed 25 sixes against the Australian cricket team.

Sanjay Manjrekar and Steve Harmison pick Kuldeep Yadav as best bowler of the India vs England series

Sanjay Manjrekar and Harmison then went on to pick Kuldeep Yadav as the best bowler of the series. The former Indian cricketer admitted that although he didn’t play the role he should’ve but he was the best bowler of the series.

Kuldeep Yadav didn’t play the first game of the series but an injury to Ravindra Jadeja ahead of the second game made way for him to enter the team. The spinner didn’t look back after that as he bowled magnificently well and made England batters look clueless in all the games he played.

Kuldeep Yadav picked 19 wickets in the 4 games that he played at an average of 20.26. He picked fifer in the Dharamsala and helped his team win the series by the margin of 4-1.
