Four Indian players invited to meet Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde

The Indian team arrived in New Delhi in the wee hours of July 4. They were given a warm welcome at the airport from the fans, who raised the slogans of 'India, India' and the names of their star players throughout the time they saw their stars.

Then, the team went to the ITC Maurya, where they were given a grand welcome. Afterwards, the Indian team went to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence at Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi, where the team was felicitated.

After meeting the Prime Minister, Team India left for Mumbai where a special roadshow has been arranged for them. The team will have a victory parade in an open bus where thousands of fans are expected to welcome them.

The roadshow will be carried out from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai where the team will be felicitated by the BCCI with their prize money.

This is India's second T20 World Cup win and the first in 17 years. Before this, India won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup, which was held in 2007 in South Africa. Rohit Sharma is the only player who has been a part of both the T20 World Cups that India has won.

India defeat South Africa in a thrilling final

Talking about the final, India defeated a resilient South Africa by 7 runs to claim the trophy. After choosing to bat first, India were in trouble at 34-3 but Virat Kohli and Axar Patel calmed things down with an excellent partnership. After Axar Patel was dismissed, Shivam Dube smashed a few lusty blows to carry India to a competitive score of 176-7 in 20 overs.

Chasing 177 to win, South Africa lost two early wickets but their strong middle order ensured they were never out of the game. Tristan Stubbs showed his talent but was dismissed by Axar Patel after he attempted one shot too many. But Heinrich Klaasen showed why he is regarded as the best batter in this format currently.

Klaasen took 24 runs off Axar Patel's last over of the spell to turn the tide in South Africa's favour. But Hardik Pandya came back to dismiss Klaasen while Jasprit Bumrah produced a sensational second spell of bowling to push South Africa further back. With 16 needed off the last over, Hardik Pandya maintained his composure to lead India to a memorable 7-run victory.
