NZ vs NED: Watch: Daryl Mitchell Shatters The Stumps With His Shot, Paul van Meekeren Asks For Mercy

New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell looked in fiery touch in the ongoing 6th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands. The Black Caps were put into bat first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad and they have been exceptional. 

After the fiery start of Devon Conway (32) and Will Young (70), Rachin Ravindra along with Mitchell took attack to the Netherlands bowlers and batted beautifully. While Rachin went back after scoring a run a ball 51, the right-hander continued his carnage. 

Daryl Mitchell played some crisp shots and timed almost every ball to perfection. He displayed brute power and at one instance shattered the stumps at the non-striker, which even threatened Paul van Meekeren, who was bowling at that time. 

It happened during the second ball of the 39th over when Paul van Meekeren bowled a full ball that was in the slot to Mitchell. The Kiwi batter powered it down the ground but stumps came in between. The bowler tried to get the hand to it and had that happened, he could’ve taken a serious blow on hand, such was the power of the shot.

NZ vs NED: Paul van Meekeren takes his revenge as he Rattles stumps of Daryl Mitchell with peach 

After hitting the stumps, Daryl Mitchell continued punishing bad balls and it seemed that he would end up getting a big score. However, that didn’t happen as Paul van Meekeren took his revenge and rattled his stumps with the peach in Hyderabad. 

Paul van Meekeren bowled a slower off-cutter on a good length. Mitchell tried to pull and missed the ball, which skidded through. The ball hits the top of the stumps to send the batter packing. 

Mitchell ended with the knock of 48 runs off 47 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 100 and also smashed 5 fours and 2 sixes. He set the platform for other batters but that couldn’t happen as Netherlands bounced back pretty strong and put Black Caps on the back.
