The Hagley Oval in Christchurch is all set to host the final of the tri-series between New Zealand and Pakistan on October 12. Both teams won three games each to qualify for the final. Bangladesh lost all four games to make it easy for the two sides to play the finale. All three teams head onto the T20 World Cup after the tri-series.
New Zealand won lost to Pakistan in their opening match by six wickets. The hosts then won three on the trot. They defeated Bangladesh by 8 wickets, Pakistan by nine wickets and then again Bangladesh by 48 runs to go to the final.
Pakistan started their campaign with win against Bangladesh by 21 runs. They then defeated New Zealand by six wickets. In the third match, the hosts defeated them by 8 wickets. In their final league game, Pakistan beat Bangladesh by seven wickets as they chased down 174 to win.
“Definitely happy, the team is playing very well, winning is always good. We didn’t bowl well, made some basic mistakes, myself and Rizwan started well with Nawaz finishing it off. We will learn from this and think the middle-order stepping up is good for the team. We will have to field better though, that’s one area where improvement is needed, we’ll try to give our 100% in tomorrow’s final” said Pakistan skipper Babar Azam who scored 55 in the game.
