New Zealand and Pakistan will renew their rivalry in T20Is this week. The first game of the five-match T20I series between the two teams will be played on Sunday (March 16). The game is scheduled to take place at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

The series will mark a new beginning for Pakistan cricket as the Men in Green will be led by a new captain. Mohammad Rizwan has been dropped from the T20I side and has been replaced by Salman Agha as the captain.

After a disappointing campaign in the Champions Trophy where they crashed out at the group stage, Pakistan will be hoping that a change in captaincy changes their fortunes too. Agha had previously led Pakistan against Zimbabwe last year where he led the side to a 2-1 series victory. He will be hoping to win the upcoming series as well.

New Zealand will also be led by a new captain - Michael Bracewell. Regular captain Mitchell Santner, as well as a few other players, will miss the series due to their IPL commitments. Bracewell had previously led New Zealand during the five-match T20I series against Pakistan last year. The series had ended at 2-2 with one match abandoned due to rain.

As New Zealand and Pakistan gear up for the first T20I, we are taking a look at the weather and pitch report.

NZ vs PAK Weather Report And Pitch Report Of Christchurch- 1st T20I, Pakistan tour of New Zealand 2025:

NZ vs PAK, weather report of Christchurch:

The match will be played at the Hagley Oval, a venue that has not earned a reputation of being a high-scoring ground. Last year, the venue hosted two T20Is and incidentally both the games involved the home side and Pakistan.

Both the games were low-scoring affairs. In the first game, New Zealand restricted Pakistan to 158/5 before chasing down the total with ease.

Pakistan posted a modest total of 134/8 in the 2nd game. However, they went on to win the game as they bowled out New Zealand for just 92 runs. It won't be surprising if the upcoming NZ vs PAK game also turns out to be a low-scoring contest.

Conclusion:

With a promising weather forecast, a full game is in store. The NZ vs PAK game is likely to be a low-scoring contest due to the conditions and the team that will hold its nerves better is likely to emerge victorious.
