One Of Virat Kohli's Childhood Coaches Suresh Batra Dies At 53

Indian cricketers continue to lose their close ones and the latest on the list is superstar captain Virat Kohli, who lost one of his childhood coaches, Suresh Batra.

Suresh Batra, who was the assistant coach to Rajkumar Sharma when Virat Kohli started his training at the West Delhi-based academy, passed away on Thursday. He was 53.

According to veteran journalist Vijay Lokapally, Batra collapsed on Thursday morning after he had completed his daily prayer.

”Suresh Batra (striped t-shirt), who coached  @imVkohli when he was a teenager, passed away on Thursday. He had finished his daily morning puja and collapsed. He was 53,” Vijay Lokapally tweeted.

Lokapally further quoted Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, as saying-

“I lost my younger brother. Knew him since 1985.”

Years before Virat Kohli became a legend like he is today, it was his under the coaching of Rajkumar Sharma and Suresh Batra that the Delhi cricketer honed his batting skills.

Former Indian U-19 World Cup winner, Manjot Kalra had also trained under Suresh Batra.

Speaking of Indian cricketers losing their close ones in the last two months, Veda Krishnamurthy has lost her sister and mother (both due to Covid), Priya Punia lost her mother (Covid) while RP Singh and Piyush Chawla have lost their respective fathers due to the deadly Wuhan virus. Earlier this week, pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s father passed away after a long battle with cancer.
