The India National Cricket Team has recently won the gold medal in the Asian Games 2026. They defeated their arch-rivals Pakistan in the final of the tournament by 19 runs to defend their gold medal. After the match, former India captain Kris Srikkanth took a swipe at spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who performed poorly.

Shreyas Iyer, as a captain, has made a good comeback after losing the first two series against Ireland and England, respectively. He has won two back-to-back series and has now also won the gold medal for the Men in Blue. He would look to continue leading India to many more series victories as they play the West Indies next.

"What kind of a spinner is he": Kris Srikkanth on Ravi Bishnoi's performance in Asian Games final

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Cheeky Cheeka, Srikkanth took a hilarious dig at Ravi Bishnoi, who went for 44 runs in his three overs and failed to pick a wicket. The former chief selector humorously took a swipe at Bishnoi’s action, stating that his body only turns and the ball does not grip or turn on a spinning wicket.

"What kind of a spinner is he if he can't even turn the ball on a turning wicket? But for Ravi Bishnoi, only his body turns, and the ball never turns. He's the only bowler who can't turn the ball as a leg-spinner when on a rank turner. He didn't even turn the ball one inch. How's that even possible? It's an art with Bishnoi (sarcasm)."

"People keep hyping him up, and eventually there'll be one inning he'll do well in. Any cricketer, if you keep hyping him up, will inevitably do well in one innings. After that, they'll say he's back to form, even though the next 10 innings he'll fail. A leg-spinner should first turn the ball. Even random spinners from Pakistan are turning the ball. Even Abhishek Sharma was spinning the ball."

Kris Srikkanth believes Ravi Bishnoi should be dropped

In the same video, Kris Srikkanth revealed that if Ravi Bishnoi kept on bowling in the match, Pakistan believed that they could win the game. He stated that Ravi Bishnoi is the only spinner who could give 14 runs per over on a wicket that was a rank turner and was turning square. Srikkanth feels that the leg-spinner should be out of the team.

"When Bishnoi was bowling, Pakistan actually believed they could win. Indians are scared when he bowls, not the Pakistanis. On a turning wicket, nobody but him can give 14 runs per over. Even a fan won't give as much. Only Ravi Bishnoi can give away so many on a rank turner. He has to be out of the team so that other deserving bowlers or spinners get an opportunity," said Srikkanth.

Abhishek Sharma the hero for India

Speaking of the match, Abhishek Sharma gave India a blistering start, scoring 61 runs, and the same finishing touches came from Tilak Varma, who scored 51 runs off 22 deliveries, and Shivam Dube played a small cameo of 27 runs as they posted 211 runs.

Pakistan lost three early wickets, but Hasan Nawaz stayed at the crease and held up an innings, playing a knock of 96 runs, but could not take his team past the line as they lost the game by 19 runs.
