David Warner scored 164 and 0 in the first two innings of the last Test series of his international Test career. His knock was instrumental in Australia winning the game by 360 runs in the end.

David Warner’s 26th Test ton took Australia to a mammoth first innings score of 487 in the first Test In Perth. Pakistan was bowled out for 271 and 89 in their two respective innings and Australia won the match by a big margin in the end.

The Tets match saw a few Aussie players get to their milestones. Nathan Lyon went past 500 Test wickets, Warner scored his 26th Test ton and Mitchell Marsh won the Player of the Match for his contributions of 90 and 63 in the two innings. The all-rounder also picked up a wicket in the first innings. In the second innings, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon picked three each, Nathan Lyon picked up two and Pat Cummis the skipper picked up a wicket.

Meanwhile, former Australian wicketkeeper Ian Healy made an interesting observation about David Warner who played his 110 Test match of his career in Perth. According to him, he can play one more year of Test cricket given his current form and fitness.

David Warner’s 164 Won Australia The Perth Test: Ian Healy

“That 160 he made in the first innings won us a Test in Perth. “It wasn’t easy. I looked at it from afar on Thursday afternoon and I said, ‘Oh, jeez, I wouldn’t like to be in Pakistan’, they are going to feel about a foot shorter than they are tomorrow afternoon not knowing how difficult the conditions were” he said on SEN Breakfast.

He further lauded the southpaw for making tough runs and felt that the Pakistan bowlers missed a trick of bowling way too short and not bowling to him in the right areas while he was still new at the crease.

“I like the way Michael Slater made tough second innings batting conditions look. Mark Waugh could also make a mockery out of tough conditions, but David Warner was outstanding” Healy added further.

He further said that given his durability and his fitness as a cricketer, he should consider playing one more year of Test cricket at least.

“What I love about him is his durability. I just love the way that he kept going and his feet moved. This is the bit I agree about Mitchell Johnson and what he said about, Why have a swansong, your last three years haven’t been very good and now you’re picking the way you can retire. But if he bats like that, he can go another year for mine until he doesn’t want to play anymore” said Healy.

David Warner was part of the Australian World Cup winning squad and made a sizeable contribution to their success. The southpaw scored 535 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 108.30 including two hundreds and two fifties. He was then rested from the T20I series against India before the Pakistan Test series.
