PAK vs CAN: Ahmed Shehzad indirectly calls Babar Azam 'ghante ka king' in a scathing criticism

Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad lashed out at the current team captain Babar Azam after the team suffered a disappointing loss against India in the T20 World Cup 2024. He lashed out at the right-hander, saying that people call him King but he doesn’t deserve that title. 

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has come under serious scanner after his team’s loss in the game against India in the T20 World Cup 2024. The captain of the team has failed both as the leader as well as the batter, which has seen the team struggling a lot. 

Babar Azam ever since being reappointed as the captain of the team, things haven’t gone his way at all. Under his leadership, Pakistan has been failing to get going, losing against New Zealand C, Ireland, and England ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. 

The same thing continued even in the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan faced a disappointing loss against the United States of America in their first game of the tournament. It was even rated as one of the biggest upsets in cricket by the ICC. 

To worsen the case more, Pakistan then lost the game against India as well. They lost the game from the winning position. In all those games, Babar Azam has failed to make an impact as his form with the bat is a big concern and also team isn’t doing good. 

Ahmed Shehzad lashed out at Babar Azam pointing out the amount of runs the captain has scored in the losing cause. He added that where Babar scores, his team loses the game and claimed that he made a big fuss about his leadership being taken to gain sympathy. 

Ahmed Shehzad also criticized Babar Azam for favoritism in the team and highlighted how the captain helps players to get fake reports from the physios. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained: 

“You say you are the biggest player in the world. Tell me, you have 1,400 runs in your losing stat. Which king is he? Which number one batsman in the world has 1,400 runs and is number three in the world? Whenever he scores, his team loses the match. You have highlighted your small things on social media and made it so big that you fooled the people of Pakistan. 

“You use small kids in your team who you had to groom and make them good players and take along with you, you make them criticize on social media. You see Saim Ayub and Azam Khan. You left Azam Khan alone there. Any player in your team who has to play two domestic matches makes a report with physio and goes out.” 

You didn't evolve and improve with time - Ahmed Shehzad on Pakistan 

Ahmed Shehzad further claimed that the Pakistan team are behind the world and they didn’t evolve with time. While talking about the same, he added: 

“And as soon as PSL and Pakistan cricket comes, you guys get fit again. You guys are behind the world. That was the old cricket that was happening 4-5 years ago. You stayed stubborn. You didn't evolve and improve with time. Because of this, where has the cricket of the world gone? And where has your cricket gone?”

In the game against India, Babar Azam managed just 13 runs off 10 balls. While against USA, he struggled to hit freely and ended with 44 runs off 43 balls.
