PAK vs ENG: Babar Azam Completes 1000 Test Runs In 2022 To Break Inzamam-ul-Haq's 17-year-old Record

Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Babar Azam has shattered a 17-year-old record of the legendary batter Inzamam-ul-Haq to achieve yet another tremendous milestone.

Babar is currently taking part in the third and final Test of the three-match series against the England National Cricket Team. The Men In Green have already lost the series after facing back-to-back defeats in the first two matches. In the first Test in Rawalpindi, Ben Stokes-led England won by 74 runs and in the second Test in Multan, England won by 26 runs.

Meanwhile, in the third Test in Karachi, Babar Azam scored a brilliant 78 runs in the first innings. On Day 3, the Pakistan captain notched up yet another half-century as he scored 54 runs before being cleaned up by debutant Rehan Ahmed. The batting performance of Babar in the third Test against England helped him complete the 1000 Test runs milestone in 2022.

Babar Azam has become the first-ever Pakistan captain to score 1000 Test runs in a calendar year. He shattered Inzamam-ul-Haq’s record, who had notched up 999 runs from seven Test matches in 2005.

Babar Azam now has 1009 Test runs under his belt in 8 matches. He has scored his runs at an average of 67.26 and his best score is 196, which came against Australia in Karachi. The 28-year-old has slammed 3 centuries and 7 half-centuries in 2022 in the longest format of the game.

Overall, he is fourth on the list of highest run-getters in Test cricket in 2022, behind Joe Root, Usman Khawaja and Jonny Bairstow. Root has scored 1098 Test runs in 2022 and Babar Azam still has one game left and he will be looking forward to overtaking the former England captain.

Notably, Babar will play his last Test of the year in the first Test of the two-match series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team in Karachi from December 26-30

Meanwhile, with the huge achievement, Babar has also joined an illustrious list of cricketers featuring the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, and Virat Kohli.
