Sarfaraz Ahmed, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter, admitted that he was apprehensive about playing his 50th Test after performing admirably with the bat on Day 1 of the first game against New Zealand. When he came up to bat, the 35-year-old said it felt like a debut.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, who took over for Mohammad Rizwan in the first Test against New Zealand in Karachi, led Pakistan’s comeback alongside Babar Azam after the top order was decimated. He accumulated 196 runs with the captain before being out for 86.

Sarfaraz stated he was over the moon during the press conference following the day’s play since he knew he would play on Monday and wanted to give it his all.
“I was overjoyed to learn yesterday that I will be taking part in this Test. I was wondering if I’d get my 50th test or not. My focus has always been on giving my all, on simply playing cricket, and on my performance,” Sarfaraz Ahmed said.

“I have always said that when I started playing cricket, I had the privilege of having great mentors whose guidance and support have always been helpful for me,” Sarfaraz Ahmed added.
“I was aiming to score a hundred”: Sarfaraz Ahmed
Sarfaraz stated that he wanted to reach a hundred runs and talked about how difficult the pitch was to bat on in the first session.
“I was heartbroken when I got out on 86 because I was eyeing a century but then I think what if I got out on the first ball so I am thankful to Allah that I managed to play a good inning,” Sarfaraz Ahmed said.
“The ball gripped a lot in the first session, but the ground has improved since then, and New Zealand kept things tight in the post-lunch and final sessions,” Sarfaraz Ahmed added.
The Karachi-born keeper-batter last represented Pakistan in white before the current Test in January 2019. However, as a result of Rizwan’s difficulties in the prior series against England, management chose to drop him.
