PAK vs ENG: Mohammad Rizwan Becomes Joint Fastest Batsman To Complete 2000 T20I Runs, Surpasses Virat Kohli And KL Rahul

World No.1 T20I batsman, Mohammad Rizwan completed 2000 runs in the T20 format against England in the first T20 International on Tuesday. The opening batsman became the joint-fastest batsman to complete 2000 runs in T20I cricket in 52 innings and equalled his captain Babar Azam’s record.
England beat Pakistan by six wickets in the first T20 International in of the seven-match series at Karachi on Tuesday. Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan’s 68 off 46 balls helped Pakistan set a target of 158. England opener Alex Hales, who is playing his first T20 after three years, scored a match-winning fifty.
Mohammed Rizwan has achieved a huge feat as the wicketkeeper-batsman joined the likes of batting greats Babar Azam, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Aaron Finch. Mohammad Rizwan is the fourth Pakistan batsman to score two thousand or more runs in T20 international cricket after Mohammad Hafeez, Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik.

However, Mohammad Rizwan’s half-century innings could not help Pakistan to win the match. In the first T20 International, England won against Pakistan by 6 wickets with 4 balls to spare. Pakistan scored 158 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs while batting first. England chased down the target for the loss of 4 wickets in 19.2 overs.
Alex Hales scored a half-century on his international comeback and scored 53 off 40 balls. Harry Brook played an important role with an unbeaten 42 off 25 balls. Luke Wood won the player of the match award for his spell of 4-0-24-3.
Mohammad Rizwan didn’t get chances in Pakistan’s playing XI when Sarfaraz Ahmed was the captain. After Sarfaraz lost his place in the team, Rizwan grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Babar Azam along with Mohammad Rizwan have strengthened Pakistan’s batting, especially in T20 international cricket.
England took a 1-0 lead in the seven-T20 series with this victory. The second match of the series will be played on Thursday in Karachi.
